Meet Our Administrative Staff

 

 

Cat Spellmeyer, Office Manager/Receptionist

 

I was born and raised in Newhall, California, and am a 1982 graduate of Wm. S. Hart High School.  I started my career in the animal field in 1984.  After working for a veterinarian in Newhall for ten years, he retired and closed the practice, so I moved to Lancaster to be with my family.  This is where I met my husband, Dave, on a blind date in November, 1995, and we haven’t been apart since.  Dave is a Broker in real estate and works in the store we own, Westside Mail and Services in Quartz Hill.  Our children are Sean, 24, Erin, 21, and Hanna who is 12.  Sean graduated CSUN in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree and is looking into a career as a Police officer. Erin is in her third year a C.O.C. and is working on her career as an Ultrasound Tech.  She is also a Christian Youth Counselor at her church.  Hanna is in the seventh grade and her career is being a social butterfly and shopping!  I have been in the animal field for over 20 years and my passion is still growing!  My hobbies are going camping, shopping, and I love going to the movies, going to the tea house, and most of all being with my family.  Our family includes three cats:  Tony, Maggie, and Columbus.  Columbus was a bottle-fed baby and is still very demanding.  We have one dog, River (black Lab), and a Guinea Pig named Cosmo.  They keep us very busy and our hearts full of love.  If only I had more room, I would have more pets.  I look forward to finishing my career here at Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic, and then would love to retire to North Carolina. 

 

 

Denise Kinney, Receptionist

Denise has been married to James for 21 years, and together they have 6 children.  Tyler and Mikayla (two-legged):  Tyler, 20, is looking forward to a career in the Air Force and enjoys X-box Live and skateboarding.  Mikayla, 16, is a junior in high school and enjoys hanging out with friends, talking/texting on the phone and being on Face Book.  The family also includes Wally, Critter, Bella & Fluffy (four-legged):  Wally, a cocker spaniel, was adopted from Half Way To Home,  a rescue organization in the Antelope Valley.  Wally, at first, did not like men.  After socializing him with other people and their pets, Wally is now a friend to everyone.  Critter, a purebred mutt, was found wandering the cold, wet streets around Denise’s  home.  After looking for his owners for 4 weeks, Critter officially became a member of the Kinney household.  Bella, a miniature schnauzer, was a parvo puppy that came into Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic. The owners were not able to treat her, so she was relinquished to Denise.  After a hard couple weeks and a lot of hands on care (not to mention the cost of treating parvo), Denise was able to take her home.  Last, but not least, Fluffy!  Fluffy, a pit bull, was found wondering Sierra Vista Golf Course. She had become a fixture at the club house, everyone feeding her. James brought her home in hopes of finding her owner, or at least a home.  she has been with the Kinney ever since!  Denise & James moved to Palmdale in 2001 from Fremont, Nebraska, leaving all of their family and friends to start a new chapter in their lives.  James, an electrical engineer with the City of Glendale, enjoys playing golf, playing golf & playing golf!  Denise, Receptionist/Assistant, enjoys spending time with her family, watching HUSKER football and going to the gym.

 

 

Meagan McClure, Receptionist/Assistant

 

Hi, my name is Meagan McClure!  I was raised in the Antelope Valley.  I grew up in Rancho Vista with an older sister and younger brother, and attended Quartz Hill Elementary and Hillview Middle School.  Then I moved to Quartz Hill where I attended Quartz Hill High School and graduated in 2008.  I have been around animals my whole life.  I grew up with two goats, three horses, chickens, dogs, cats, turtles, lizards, birds, fish, and a Guinea Pig.  I have been working in the veterinary field since September of 2008 and have been working at Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic since May of 2009.  I love to be around four-legged creatures as well as two-legged ones.  My goals are to further my education in the veterinary field, to achieve my masters degree and to continue working with animals.  I enjoy camping as often as I can, going to the beach, shopping, spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend, cheering for the Lakers, reading (especially the Twilight series), eating ice cream, snowboarding, and cuddling with small, precious animals.
