Kathy Shroeder, Certified RVT

 

Hi, I’m Kathy Schroeder.  I’ve been here at Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic since October of 2006, but have been a Registered Veterinary Technician since 1990.  I have always loved animals and have known since I was very young that I wanted to work with them as a career.  In addition to working in a small animal private practice, I worked for Los Angeles County Animal Control for five years, had my own pet setting business and taught veterinary assisting for the Adult School.  Each position has had its pro’s and con’s, but just being around the animals makes all of them worthwhile.  I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and my family moved to Cody, Wyoming, when I was fourteen. Not being much of a country girl or cold weather person, I moved to California when I was twenty-four.  I am married to a professional canine behavior specialist and we have three solid black German Shepherds and three cats. 

I am married to a professional canine behavior specialist and we have two solid black German Shepherds and three cats. My husband and I own a boarding facility and only board dogs that have recently been rescued from shelters by the local dog rescue groups. I am an American Sign Language interpreter and enjoy spending time with the Deaf community and interpreting in Deaf ministry through my church. I love the beach, boogie boarding and scrapbooking.

 

 

 

Melissa Neubert, Veterinary Assistant

 

Hi, my name is Melissa Neubert.  I started my career at fifteen working as a technician in Ohio for five years.  I moved to California and started working at Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic in September of 2009.  I love it here so much – the staff are true advocates for pets and their welfare.  All of us here at Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic hold the highest expectations for ourselves to provide the absolute best patient care as well as educating our clients with the best medical advice for their pets.  It is so great that I can say I love my job!  I am currently attending Cedar Valley College to become registered as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  My pets are my life.  I have three dogs:  a Labrador named Katie, a Shihtzu named Bubbles, and an American Bulldog named Hogan who is unfortunately still in Ohio.  I also have a 2 ½ year old horse that is a Fresian/Saddlebred cross.  I love working with my horse, playing with my pets, hiking, camping, fishing, shooting, going off-road with my jeep, and just love the outdoors.  The Lord my Savior has blessed me with my jobs throughout my life and has been there guiding me to live my dream.  I have trust in Him that he will continue to lead me through this job and will continue to help me live my dream in the animal field.  I can promise you that I will treat your pets like they were my own.

 

 

 

Emily, Certified Veterinary Technician

 

I am the newest member of the Quartz Hill Veterinary Clinic team.   Prior to joining the team here I was a Midwest dweller born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago.  I have always had a love of animals and knew early on that I wanted to make animals a huge part of my life, and eventually a career.  I decided that becoming a veterinary technician was the best fit for me and enrolled at Parkland College in correlation with University of Illinois where I graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2006, and received my license as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  After graduation I moved to the near north suburbs of Chicago to join an exotic animal practice specializing in avian and exotic medicine.  Working with exotic animals was both exciting and rewarding, but I chose to leave that practice and move to sunny California for my high school sweetheart stationed at Edwards Air Force Base.  Being in the high desert of California is a big change from the Midwest/city life of Chicago, but I have loved the change.  Since I have been here I have enjoyed much of what California has to offer including beaches, fantastic L.A., camping, and lots of new friends.  Our rescued mutt "Homer" has also enjoyed the move and all his new four legged friends.
